Oracle Delivers Sun Fire x86 Clustered Systems
Oracle has unveiled its next-generation Sun
Fire x86 clustered systems, designed for customers that run a mix of demanding Oracle
and non-Oracle enterprise workloads across
a grouping of systems.
The new Sun Fire x86 portfolio includes
a versatile set of blade systems, x86 rack
servers, high-performance networking
products, and advanced systems management capabilities. Based on the Intel Xeon
5600 and Intel Xeon 7500 processors, these
systems ship with Oracle Solaris, Oracle
Enterprise Linux, and Oracle VM and deliver
an end-to-end virtualized environment that
provides a completely tested and supported
solution for Oracle applications. They are
also certified to run Red Hat Linux, SUSE
Linux, Microsoft Windows, and VMware.
“The launch of our Sun Fire x86 clustered
systems underscores our commitment to
delivering the best, most differentiated
x86 clustered solutions,” says John Fowler,
executive vice president of systems at Oracle.
“We are the first to deliver high-performing
application-to-disk solutions that can be
managed and supported as a single system.
This is a major step forward in providing a
completely optimized solution that delivers
enterprise-class performance and scale
while reducing management complexity and
costs for customers.”
All Sun Fire x86 clustered systems include
Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager, which
provides a single management interface for
virtualization features as well as all the hard-
ware components including blades, servers,
storage, networking, and power. Sun Fire
x86 customers who use Oracle Enterprise
Manager Ops Center can achieve a highly
scalable and seamless management system
that provides lifecycle management and
process automation capabilities.”
“Datacenter managers have always looked
for price/performance improvements from
their infrastructure investments, which are
increasingly being achieved through fully
integrated hardware and software,” says
Matt Eastwood, group vice president at IDC.
“Oracle’s new x86 blade and rack systems
provide a complete solution for running
Oracle software, delivering an integrated
stack designed to reduce CAPEX [capital
expenditure] and OPEX [operating expense]
costs in the datacenter.”

Oracle Introduces Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite 11g
Oracle Enterprise Content Management
Suite 11 g, a comprehensive, integrated, and
high-performance content management
solution, is now available to help organizations increase efficiency, reduce costs, and
improve content security.
A component of Oracle Fusion
Middleware, Oracle Enterprise Content
Management Suite 11 g consists of Oracle
Universal Records Management 11 g, Oracle
Imaging and Process Management 11 g, and
Oracle Information Rights Management 11 g.
The new suite is built on a unified
content repository and provides an easy-
to-use, end-to-end solution spanning
imaging, Web, document, and records
management. It builds on Oracle’s solu-
tion for enterprise application documents
through preintegration with business pro-
cesses, business applications, and desktop
productivity tools. Its unified repository can
support high-volume content ingestion
applications, such as invoice processing,
and high-volume content delivery applica-
tions, such as e-commerce sites.
“To maximize content management efficiency, reduce costs, and improve security,
organizations need a comprehensive enterprise content management solution that
is integrated into their business processes
and fits with the way they work,” says Andy
MacMillan, vice president of product management at Oracle. “With Oracle Enterprise
Content Management Suite 11 g, we meet
those demands while delivering the performance and scalability needed to support the
most-complex and -demanding enterprise
content management environments.”
